vzniklo roku 1986 a necelý rok poté si už přivezlo první cenu ze soutěže Beethovenův Hradec. Později přibylo čestné uznání na mezinárodní soutěži Pražské jaro 1988 a v roce 1990, kdy se na uměleckém růstu kvarteta významně podílel člen Smetanova kvarteta Lubomír Kostecký získalo Prix Espace 2 a speciální uznání na soutěži ve francouzském Evianu.

V roce 1993, 1995 a 1998 uskutečnilo kvarteto s velkým ohlasem rozsáhlá turné po USA. Koncerty v Atlantě, Pittsburghu, Clevelandu, Miami přenášely hudební stanice v USA, kromě toho soubor vyučoval na mistrovkých kursech na Universitách v Los Angeles a Santa Barbaře. Bohatý repertoár Wallingerova kvarteta měli možnost vyslechnout posluchači v koncertních sálech Evropy, Ameriky i Afriky (opakovaně vystoupilo na turné v Rakousku, Německu, Španělsku, Itálii, Francii) Několikrát bylo vysláno reprezentovat ČR na významné kulturní akce do Vídně, Paříže.

Kromě klasického repertoáru velmi rádo provádí soudobá díla skladatelů nejen domácích,ale i zahraničních (J. Matys, L.Matoušek, M.Ištvan. M.Kopelent, P.Novák-Zemek, D Matthews a další) z nichž někteří svoje skladby kvartetu přímo věnovali.

Těleso realizovalo řadu nahrávek pro naše i zahraniční vydavatelství a rádia. Zajímavá je spolupráce s našimi vynikajícími předními hudebníky

(R.Lichnovská, Z. Hnát, P.Besa, A.Besa,E. Drápela, K.Dohnal, I.Františák, P. Pomkla aj.), v zahraničí pak např. s americkým pianistou Carry Lewisem, britským hobojistou Douglasem Boydem nebo japonskou klavíristkou Michiko Otaki.

Kvarteto pravidelně vystupuje na významných festivalech a cyklech (Moravský podzim, klub přátel Pražského jara, v českém komorním spolku při České filharmonii)

V dnešním složení hraje od roku 2016, kdy do souboru přišel violoncellista Lukáš Svoboda.

Wallinger Quartet

Formed in 1986, the Wallinger Quartet soon achieved great success in a number of competitions: less than a year after its establishment, it already won the Beethoven’s Hradec Competition, and it was awarded an Honourable Mention in the Prague Spring competition in 1988, the Prix Espace 2 in 1990 (at time, that is, when Lubomír Kostecký, who had been a member of the Smetana Quartet, helped to shape the artistic profile of the ensemble), and an Honourable Mention in a competition in the French town of Evian.

. In 1993, 1995 and 1998, the four musicians went on successful tours of the USA, their Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Miami performances were recorded and broadcast by American radio stations, and the quartet gave master classes at a university in Los Angeles. The ensemble boasts an extensive repertoire, with which they have appeared in concert halls throughout Europe, America and Africa (they regularly tour, for example, Austria, Germany, Spain, Italy, and France). It is also worth mentioning that the quartet have been chosen several times to represent the Czech Republic at important cultural events in Vienna and France.

Although the ensemble devote themselves in particular to what one might refer to as the classical repertoire, they also give performances of pieces by contemporary composers, both Czech and foreign (Matys, Matoušek, Ištvan, Kopelent, Novák-Zemek, Matthews, and others), a number of whom have devoted some of their pieces to the quartet.

The Wallinger Quartet have recorded extensively, both for Czech and foreign record companies and radio stations (quartets by Janáček, Mozart, Wayne, Dvořák, and Brahms) and have collaborated with a number of top Czech (Renata Lichnovská, Zdeněk Hnát, Petra Besa, Emil Drápela, Karel Dohnal, Igor Františák and Petr Pomkla) and foreign (the American pianist Carry Lewis, the British oboist Douglas Boyd and the Japanese pianist Michiko Otaki) artists. The ensemble have also taken part in prestigious music festivals and concert series, such as the Moravian Autumn International Music Festival, The Friends of the Prague Spring International Music Festival, and the Czech Philharmonic’s chamber society. The present Wallinger Quartet – the quartet, that is, as one knows it today – have played together since 2016, the year in which the cellist Lukáš Svoboda joined the ensemble
